Speak Up. Share Your Story. Help Protect Kids in Dance.
DA:NCE Awareness is excited to launch our first ever Social Media Video Challenge — a social media campaign inviting you to speak out about something that doesn’t get enough attention: the hypersexualization of children in dance.
For too long, kids have been exposed to choreography, costumes, and music that strip away their innocence and send the wrong messages about their value and worth. These harmful trends can damage a child’s sense of self and open the door to exploitation — and it’s time we said enough.
Why Are We Doing This?
Because the dance world needs more voices willing to say that children deserve better.
Because too many parents and educators feel alone in wanting healthier, more age-appropriate dance environments. Because sharing your experience — or your studio’s example — could help shift the culture and protect countless kids.
What Is the Challenge?
We’re inviting anyone – from educators and parents to dancers and advocates – to post a 60- second (or less) video or reel on social media sharing your perspective on healthy dance. The question we want you to answer: In your own words, what is the difference between healthy and harmful children’s dance?
This could be:
- A personal story or testimony
- A reflection on what you’ve seen change in the industry
- A clear message about what healthy dance is, and what it isn’t
How to Participate
- Create your video and post it to Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok
- Tag DA:NCE Awareness and use the hashtag #DanceAwarenessChallenge
- Post by September 30, 2025 for a chance to win $100 gift card and be featured by DA:NCE on our social media channels.
